It is definitely worth heading out for! It is by far the best view of the show and is a great time if the waves cooperate.

The rules are that you can not anchor in front of the temporary buoy's set by the coast guard stretching from Belmont harbor all the way down to Monroe. It typically is about a 1/2 mile from the shore and is very evident to see. If by chance you are in the wrong area, don't worry the coast guard will quickly let you know.

The only other words of advice are make sure you let out enough anchor line 7 to 1, example (140 feet of line for 20 feet of water)especially important in bigger waves. Lastly, make sure you don't get too close to other boats while anchored.

I have been part of someone pretty interesting situations with inexperienced boaters.
Oh, the best day is Friday for the practice, not as crowded.

SPEAKING OF INEXPERIENCED BOATERS- I would appreciate any information anyone has on a moron who owns a boat by the name of "Nirvana" and it is a 420 SC Marquis Yacht(carver)....

this stupid asshole might be one of the dumbest motherF'ers i have ever encountered on the lake.

I was propertly anchored and rafted to a friends boat in seas that were less than 2 feet on Saturday the 15th and there was minimal movement of the boats and it was a very safe rafting of two vessels. There were strands of 10 boats rafting as well.

"Nirvana" decided to drag a 6 foot tall wake about 20 yars off the bow of our boats during the end of the day. This sent both boats into a very rough situation and a very dangerous situation as we were trying to mitigate boats from banging into each other. One of my friends went sliding off the bow like he was shot out of a canon towards the starboard side of my friend's boat that we were tied up to. This was very dangerous and all due to wake that was ignorantly dragged in front of us.

I have updated the coast guard and police marine units that there is a moron amongst us on the lake and I have about 15 witnesses between both boats that were all in shock over the rediculousness of the situation.

I have seen plenty of stupid things happen out on the lake with some of these boaters, but this comes close to taking the cake.

You are responsible for your wake and any damage done by it....i want our bent railings paid for...

thanks nirvana- i hope i find you through my computer instead of on the lake.......
